NASF testifies before House approps subcommittee on support for America’s forests

On behalf of NASF, California State Forester Ken Pimlott gave testimony before the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Interior, Environment and related Agencies today on funding recommendations for USDA Forest Service State and Private Forestry (S&PF) programs. The testimony follows a number of letters NASF has sent detailing our recommendations on programs including Forest Inventory & Analysis, Forest Health, Wildfire Management and Urban & Community Forestry.

MORE: Also on the docket was Tom Martin, president and CEO of the American Forest Foundation, who reminded committee members that most of America's forests are owned by families and individuals, not the federal government, and not corporations. AFF and NASF issued a joint press release on the value of the Forest Stewardship Program, as well help gather more than 1,200 signatures from private forest owners in a letter asking for continued support of the program.
