NASF sent letters to Senators Crapo and Wyden, and Congresswoman Herrera Beutler and Congressman Schrader today for sponsoring the Silviculture Regulatory Consistency Act (SRCA). Their bill reaffirms EPA’s treatment of forestry operations as non-point sources of pollution exempt from permitting requirements under the Clean Water Act. This week, the U.S. House of Representatives included the SRCA as part of the Farm Bill that passed on the floor yesterday. Whether it is included in the final Farm Bill remains to be seen.
