NASF joins coalition letter to urge the addition of supplemental funds for Wildland Fire Management as part of the disaster relief package

Today, NASF joined a coalition letter in support of the addition of Amendment #3350 to the disaster relief package being considered by Congress. The amendment provides supplemental funds to the Wildland Fire Management appropriation by restoring $653 million to the USFS Wildland Fire Management Account.

The Coalition shares the interests of Senator Tester and Udall in funding suppression efforts in a way that avoids disruptions to other agency programs referenced in a letter sent on September 10, 2012. This important amendment to the disaster relief package will help cover the gap in anticipated emergency costs to ensure the agency has the resources needed for wildfire suppression efforts in fiscal year 2013.
