Meet NASF’s summer intern McKenzee Kositzke!

The 2024 James Hubbard Intern for Policy and Communications is here! Please join us in welcoming McKenzee Kositzke to the NASF team.

Mckenzee is currently enrolled at Michigan State University (MSU (Go Green!)), majoring in Environmental Studies and Sustainability with a double minor in Women and Gender Studies and S.T.E.PP. (Science, Technology, Environment, Public Policy). Mckenzee is involved in several extracurriculars including the MSU Outdoors Club, Planned Parenthood Generation Action, The Hurriya Coalition, The Sunrise Movement, Spartan Housing Cooperative and Sustainable Spartans. 

Mckenzee Kositzke sits on a log.Mckenzee comes with experience at a small 501c3 non-profit helping individuals apply for state assistance programs and compiling beneficial resources. At NASF, she is looking forward to witnessing the intersection of federal and state resource management. Her personal political passions include bringing gender and racial equity to the forefront of environmental justice and the fight against climate change, maintaining sustainable practices and implementing regulatory bodies, and bridging partisan gaps in our political system. 

In her free time, she enjoys hiking, swimming, and especially scuba diving or snorkeling. Growing up in Michigan, she was inspired to partake in water-recreation, which has inspired a passion for water resource management. Whether enjoying the sunsets on the South Haven Pier or the view from the top of the dunes, she has always seen the value in managing public lands for the good of the community and environment.
