Wildfire Prevention Resource: New Smokey Bear PSAs Unveiled

The National Association of State Foresters and its partners on the Cooperative Forest Fire Prevention (CFFP) campaign have unveiled new Smokey Bear wildfire prevention public service announcements (PSAs).

The CFFP program is managed by the USDA Forest Service in cooperation with your state forester and the Ad Council.

The new television, radio, print, outdoor and digital PSAs were created pro bono by FCB West, the same advertising agency that has developed PSAs for Smokey Bear since his birth. The print PSA executions include artwork created by award-winning travel writer and photographer Bill Fink, who used ashes from an actual wildfire.

The new PSAs show how lesser-known causes (such as unattended fire pits and barbeque coals, metal chains dragging from a moving vehicle, and parking over tall, dry grass) can spark a wildfire.

You too can be a champion for wildfire prevention! Help spread the word about Smokey Bear's tips and resources. Head on over to Smokey Bear's new website—www.smokeybear.com—for new infographic content and be sure to use the hashtag #SmokeyBearHug to connect with Smokey on social media!
