Southeastern Cohesive Fire Strategy Website Redesigned

In partnership with the Southeastern Cohesive Wildland Fire Strategy Coordinator, the office of the Southern Regional Extension Forester (SREF) is pleased to announce the updated Southeastern Strategy website, now with new resources that serve to increase landscape resiliency and community protection and ensure a safe, effective and risk-based fire response.

Southernwildfire.net provides wildland fire news, success stories, recommended activities, and resources for all 13 southern states in addition to Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands and is structured for a diverse audience, including: federal, state, local, tribal, NGO and private agencies involved in fire and forestry activities, as well as the public. The website provides professional development, education, outreach, and training resources; links to workshops and webinars; success stories that can serve as models for other communities and organizations to follow; and links to wildfire risk evaluation tools.

Stories include examples of successful prescribed burns, wildfire mitigation, partnerships, wildlife management, smoke concerns, ecosystem restoration, outreach, innovative technologies, and more. Additionally, the website provides specific activities agencies and organizations can implement to support Cohesive Wildland Fire Strategy goals and a method agencies and organizations can use to report current efforts.

Other primary partners involved in this effort include the USDA Forest Service and the Southern Group of State Foresters.
