NASF sends letter to Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Lee Zeldin

The National Association of State Foresters sent a letter to Lee Zeldin, Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency, congratulating him on his confirmation and thanking him for his quick attention to some of the most critical regulatory roadblocks to unlocking sustainable forest management and responding to the nationwide threat posed by catastrophic wildfires. Specifically, the letter highlights three critical policy issues:

  • Reviewing and streamlining the Exceptional Events Rule (EER) for prescribed fire.
  • Unlocking the Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS) for woody biomass, in line with clear statutory direction from Congress.
  • Ensuring clarity in the definition and implementation of WOTUS under the Clean Water Act.
