Climate Forester
The Department of Forests, Parks and Recreation is recruiting for a Climate Forester. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with program leads to advance our understanding of and support a coordinated response to the impacts of climate change on forests and forest management. This position will serve as the Department’s technical expert on forest carbon dynamics and the current state of and trends in climate impacts on forests. The Climate Forester will work to advance forest and forest product related climate adaptation and mitigation strategies, provide training and assistance to landowners and forestry practitioners across the state – facilitating their engagement with the range of technical assistance opportunities, and support leadership with policy development and identification of funding opportunities.
The Department of Forests, Parks and Recreation currently operates in a hybrid working environment, supporting remote work as well as days in which all staff are in the office for meetings. Permission to participate in telework is applied for on an individual basis. The position’s duty station is located in Montpelier, Vermont.
