This position serves as the Indiana Army National Guard Senior Forester Supervisor. The position is located at the Camp Atterbury Joint Maneuver Training Center, Edinburgh, Indiana. You will execute the forest management component of the Integrated Natural Resources Management Plan (INRMP) for the 35,000-acre training center and the 1,000-acre Muscatatuck Urban Training Center.
The essential functions of this role are as follows:
- You will collect technical forest resource data on state managed lands, private property, and/or urban areas.
- You will analyze resource data and develop plans including inventory summaries, resource management guides, and practice plans for invasive control, timber stand improvement, tree planting, and prescribed burns.
- You will administer and implement forestry practices and programs which may involve federal, state, and local agencies and private individuals/ businesses.
- You will establish and maintain public relations with landowners, communities, organizations, wood using industries and the public.
- You will conduct educational programs and develop educational materials for public and staff.
- You will provide specialized guidance and coordination in area of expertise and make recommendations to division heads for program objectives.
- You will recruit, select, onboard, and train employees to ensure role responsibilities and expectations are clearly understood while providing opportunities to continue professional development.
- You will set expectations, measure progress, provide ongoing feedback, and evaluate the performance of employees.
- You will ensure work adheres to quality standards, deadlines, and proper procedures.
- You will establish safety and emergency procedures on property to comply with state federal regulations including but not limited to ADA and OSHA.
- You will plan and implement property maintenance and improvement projects.
- You will provide oversite for property budget and purchasing.
