Tuesday, January 9, 2018

The first James Hubbard Intern for Policy and Communications of the New Year is here! Join us in welcoming Zoe Bommarito to the NASF team.

Zoe will be assisting the association with its advocacy and outreach efforts this winter and spring. She is a native Michigander and a recent graduate of Michigan State University, where she received her B.A. in Social Relations and Policy with a specialization in Natural Resources Management.

Zoe isn't new to Washington, D.C. - she interned with the Secretary's Office at the Department of the Interior last summer as part of the William A. Demmer Scholars program, led by former Under-Secretary of Agriculture for Natural Resources and Forestry Mark Rey. She has also worked with the National Park Service as an environmental educator at Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore.

In the coming months, Zoe will contribute to NASF’s social media channels, report on congressional hearings, and do her part to support the nation's 59 state and territorial foresters. She is particularly excited to work with state forestry agencies to increase public awareness for their programs and the value of active forest management on private lands. Zoe is also an enthusiastic outdoorswoman with a passion for hiking and birdwatching.

You can reach Zoe by email at intern@stateforesters.org.
