NASF Letter: comments on USDA Forest Service aerial application of fire retardant (June 24, 2011)

Jodi Kramer
USDA Forest Service
16002 Ontario Street
Sandpoint, ID 83864

Dear Jodi:

The National Association of State Foresters (NASF) supports the U.S. Forest Service aerial delivery of fire retardants under "Guidelines for Aerial Application of Retardant or Foam Near Waterways" (2000 Guidelines), which are designed to minimize the impact of aerially delivered fire retardants on aquatic life and habitat. The existing guidelines are reasonable and prudent and minimize adverse impacts of aerial retardant on aquatic life and habitat.
