2016 Communities at Risk Report

The Communities at Risk Report helps provide a national snapshot of wildland fire risk, preparedness and capacity in fiscal year 2016.

The data show progress to identify communities at risk of wildfire and those that are moving toward reducing risk, as well as increased capacity through the development of Community Wildfire Protection Plans and other methods.

State Forestry BMPs

State forestry agencies develop and implement forestry best management practices (BMPs) that are designed to protect water quality and maintain water quantity. State forestry BMP programs are highly diverse to reflect the wide range of forested landscapes and unique state characteristics found throughout the country.

2016 State and Private Forestry Report

Trees and forests form a major portion of the green infrastructure in the United States. However, healthy forests do not happen by chance and require investments of dollars, time and expertise. The 2016 State and Private Forestry report illustrates how the Forest Action Plans are helping state forestry agencies and their partners achieve national conservation priorities for America's "natural capital", trees.

2015 Prescribed Fire Use Report

The National Prescribed Fire Use Survey Report is a collaborative effort of the National Association of State Foresters and the Coalition of Prescribed Fire Councils. The survey results indicate approximately 11.7 million acres were treated in 2014 with prescribed fire. The majority was for forestry purposes with the balance related to agriculture.
