NASF Internship Opportunity - Spring 2009

The National Association of State Foresters, in partnership with the National Association of State Foresters Foundation, is seeking a qualified candidate for an internship opportunity in Washington, DC. Applications must be received by close of business on Friday, January 16, 2009.

Who Should Apply: Advanced undergraduate or graduate students at accredited forestry schools with strong interest in forest policy. Outstanding writing skills and ability to work quickly are absolutely necessary. NASF representatives will work with your academic institution to arrange for academic credit. Preference will be given to applicants who are receiving academic credit for the internship.

Duties: Attend and report on Congressional hearings on forestry and natural resources issues, interact with a wide variety of forest policy makers. Work with NASF staff to assist in legislative tracking. Attend other meetings with agency and interest group representatives as necessary. Assist with NASF Washington office duties as needed.

Stipend: The selected candidate will be paid a stipend of $250.00 per week. No other benefits will be provided. NASF encourages interested candidates to work with their academic institution to arrange financial aid.

Starting/Ending Dates: On or around March 2 until May 29, 2009. Dates are negotiable for a 13 week period. The successful Candidate will be notified of a decision by January 31, 2009.
