NASF Resolution No. 1992-6: Federal Excess Property

WHEREAS: The Federal Excess Personal Property Program (FEPP) ensures efficient and economical rural community and wildland fire protection through loan of federal excess property to State Forestry agencies; and
WHEREAS: The reauthorization of the Department of Defense bill directs the DOD to provide non-lethal supplies to state and local governments at a higher priority; and
WHEREAS: The DOD is further instructed to provide fire and construction equipment for domestic uses prior to it being made available overseas; and
WHEREAS: It is paramount to NASF that it maintain its position and ability to acquire fire-related equipment;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the National Association of State Foresters supports maintaining its position in the FEPP screening process; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that NASF and the USDA Forest Service continue to monitor our mutual interests through the FEPP Study Group.
