NASF Resolution No. 1993-5: Federal Emergency Management Agency

WHEREAS: FEMA disaster declarations have historically focused on single events; and
WHEREAS: multiple fire situations can and do develop into significant natural disasters across this nation; and
WHEREAS: State expenditures for suppression in large scale multiple fire situations can be extensive; and
WHEREAS: FEMA's interpretation of fire disaster declarations appears to be a matter of internal policy rather than written rule.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the National Association of State Foresters request the President of NASF charge NASF's FEMA AD-Hoc Committee to investigate this matter of concern with FEMA.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that NASF request a written opinion on FEMA's position regarding disaster fire situations by July 1, 1994.
