NASF Resolution No. 2009-2: Intertribal Timber Council Affirmation Statement

ISSUE OF CONCERN: Supporting an Intertribal Timber Council-National Association of State Foresters Affirmation Statement to establish formal collaboration between organizations
BACKGROUND: The Intertribal Timber Council (ITC) and the National Association of State Foresters (NASF) are dedicated to maintaining healthy working forests that provide revenues, employment, forest-based products, and environmental services for state, tribal, and regional communities and the nation as a whole. The capacity to substantively influence the development of national, regional, tribal, and state policies and programs that affect management of forests and trees would be greatly enhanced by the establishment of close working relationships and candid sharing of perspectives on issue and concerns between ITC and NASF.
RESOLUTION:
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that National Association of State Foresters support the Intertribal Timber Council-National Association of State Foresters Affirmation Statement (See Appendix B) and agree to establish a Joint Coordination Committee with the Intertribal Timber Council for the purpose of facilitating and encouraging communication and cooperation.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the NASF Native American Relations Committee Chairman and ITC Technical Specialist will serve as the primary contacts and recruit members from their respective organizations.
