Western Governors request supplemental funding for wildfire restoration and prevention
On July 11, the Western Governors Association sent a letter to Congress requesting additional support for wildfire restoration and prevention. After dealing with massive wildfires that have scorched tens of thousands of acres and burned hundreds of homes, the Governors asked Congress to do more to ensure adequate funding is in place to battle ongoing blazes and support wildfire restoration and prevention programs.
The Western Governors' Association's three-page letter sent was sent to Senate and House leadership, among others, and requests that they fully fund federal programs "to ensure emergency suppression costs do not impact federal non-fire budgets and programs."
