Smokey Bear Website Overhauled: New Fire Prevention Tips and Infographics

Together with its partners in fire prevention, NASF is pleased to announce the launch of the new and improved smokeybear.com. Go ahead – click on over and check it out!

Nearly nine out of every 10 wildfires in the United States are human-caused, which demonstrates one staggering fact: most of our nation’s wildfires can be prevented. The revised smokeybear.com website, managed by the Cooperative Forest Fire Prevention (CFFP) Committee, can help reduce this statistic by providing thoroughly researched content about fire in a mobile-friendly and shareable format.

The CFFP Committee is a partnership of the USDA Forest Service in cooperation with the Ad Council and NASF. State Forester members of the committee, representing each of NASF’s three regions, are TX State Forester Tom Boggus, NH State Forester Brad Simpkins and NM State Forester Eddie Tudor. Jacksonville-based company St. John & Partners designed and implemented the new site.

The redesigned website site has a clean, modern design with interactive elements as well as compelling new wildfire prevention content that can serve as a resource for audiences of all ages. The new website is mobile responsive and integrates easily with social media. This improved educational website enhances state forestry agency efforts to reduce the number of human-caused wildfires in the United States.

Smokeybear.com’s new look and revised content can help achieve fire prevention goals in all parts of the United States. Spread the word through your social media channels and newsletters and on your own websites. Share some of the new infographic content on social media and be sure to use the hashtag #SmokeyBearHug.

NASF also encourages its partners to submit a Smokey Bear Award nomination this fall. This prestigious awards program recognizes individuals and organizations for outstanding service in wildfire prevention programs. The nomination period will open later in 2016. Information is available at the new and improved landing page: smokeybear.com/en/awards.
