NASF joins Fire Suppression Funding Solutions Partner Caucus in appropriations letter to congress
NASF joined with other members of the Fire Suppression Funding Solutions Partner Caucus to send a letter to appropriators as they complete work on FY13 appropriations for Interior, Environment and Related Agencies.
The letter thanked appropriators for repaying transferred funds from non-fire accounts used for suppression efforts in FY12 and for making important adjustments to wildland fire management appropriations in FY13 when passing the current continuing resolution. The Caucus also expressed that early estimates for the costs of suppression for Fiscal Year 2013 anticipate that suppression costs will significantly exceed the 10 year average and urged congress to take action to provide adequate fire suppression funding that is equal to the 10 year average and to maintain reserves in the FLAME Accounts.
