Hawaiian Christmas trees may contain an unexpected gift
Many Hawaiians buy imported holiday plants and trees, but they may end up with the unexpected gift of invasive species. While many people will buy imported Christmas trees and wreaths, the State Department of Agriculture is asking residents to buy local for the holidays.
The Ag Department and nursery industry teamed up to provide locally grown flowers and foliage for the Department's "Buy local, It Matters" campaign. They are hoping that locals will create alternative Christmas trees.
