Georgia retails embrace the benefits of urban forestry

Wednesday, July 11, 2012

With more and more retailers "going green," Georgia has a great case study in retailers "going green" in a leafy way. The Georgia urban forestry publication Shade featured an article on the many benefits retailers experience when they invest in urban forests around their businesses. Retailers are bathing their shops, storefronts and parking areas in trees. Business owners have found that trees can help bring in the kind of green they can take to the bank.

The benefits to business are numerous. Trees boost property values, cool the building providing significant savings in air-conditioning costs, boost occupancy rates and worker satisfaction, intercept storm water runoff and help identify entrances, crosswalks and boundaries.
