The US Forest Service has waived recreation fees at roughly one-third of national parks, forests, wildlife refuges and other public lands in celebration of the  fifth annual National Get Outdoors Day. Some state parks will waive their entrance fees in honor of the celebration too. More than 130 free special events in 37 states include everything from fishing lessons to photo ops with Smokey Bear. The events are designed to help reconnect kids and other first-time park visitors with the call of the wild. National Get Outdoors Day happens tomorrow (June 9), so go out and enjoy your local forest!
