With the weather getting colder and more people purchasing firewood to heat their homes, Maryland and other states are reminding citizens how they can prevent the spread of invasive species.
In a press release sent out by the Maryland Department of Agriculture, they give some details on the devastation the Emerald Ash Borer (EAB) beetle has caused. The EAB has destroyed hundreds of ash trees across Maryland and thousands across the country. USDA has estimated losses caused by the EAB could exceed $227.5 million in the Baltimore area alone.
Remember: Don’t Move Firewood. Burn it Where You Buy It!
