Wildland Urban Interface Specialist I
Exciting opportunity for an entry-level position focused on fire and mitigation communications for the Texas A&M Forest Service in College Station, Texas. As a Wildland Urban Interface Specialist you will be assigned to complete communications duties and support mitigation and prevention programs. Communications duties include developing and producing a wide variety of written, graphic and video products for use on the Wildfire Education and Prevention-TFS Facebook, Lone Star State Incident Management Team-TFS Facebook and All-Hazard Twitter. Serve as a Public Information Officer and complete incident communications duties. Write news releases and articles. Serve as a point of contact and forge positive relationships with various news media.
Complete mitigation and prevention programs in a support role. Assist in the delivery of public outreach programs. Provide proactive technical assistance to citizens. Serve on Department Committees, TFS Post Fire Assessment Team and Fire Prevention Teams. During large scale wildfire outbreaks and all hazards incidents will be assigned to the following areas: public information or prevention or incident management. Will work within the NIMS/ICS environment.
