State of WA seeking Natural Resource Specialist - Forest Practices
This position is critical to the development and facilitation of Forest Practices Rules, guidance, and policy changes as requested by the legislature or the Forest Practices Board (FPB): serves as a lead in Forest Practices rule makings and is responsible for the review, maintenance and development of the Forest Practices Board Manual, a required and integral part of the Forest Practices Rules; serves as the Forest Practices Program lead for the development and implementation of rules and guidance for forest conversion issues including: the transfer of authority over forest conversion harvests to local governments; and the administrative process by which the DNR and local governments coordinate conversion activities on forest lands; provides Forest Practices Program support in the development of legislation, rule proposals and board manual templates for the Small Forest Landowner Office. Coordinates ongoing development of the small forest landowner alternate planning Board Manual to fulfill rule-required small forest landowner templates; and directs, prioritizes, and supervises the work of two EP3’s and one NRS3 in the Policy & Services section of the division.
