The primary purpose of this position is to purpose of this position is to coordinate the statewide Federal Initiatives Unit responsibilities for the administration and management of federal grants, including: prepare grant applications by providing oversight and leadership on grant project selection and submission processes and through collection of narrative description information, editing and preparation for submission of project proposals; serve as primary liaison with federal representatives, county governments, grant sub-recipients, and field personnel related to award and post award issues. The Grants Operations Coordinator provides input at regional and national levels and maintains frequent contact with federal agencies, other state agencies, local governments, and general public members who participate in grant programs. In accordance with Board of Forestry directions, this position seeks, gains, and coordinates broader alternate funding and resource opportunities such as grants, donations, funding agreements, and contracts to leverage normal agency funding sources. The position serves as a primary liaison with agency staff and field personnel by providing project coordination, reporting accomplishments, monitoring, and analysis of agency activities and financial transactions, and ensuring that federal and state standards are met.
