Forests in the Farm Bill
Posted on Monday, March 3, 2008
The 2007 U.S. Farm Bill was enacted into law in June 2008. NASF recommended an approach to the Farm Bill that encourages stronger public and private partnerships, sustainable forests, enhanced interagency relationships, and improved services to landowners to promote the retention, protection, and sustainable management of their forestland. NASF Resolution No. 2002-9: Implementation of the Forestry Title in 2002 Farm Bill
Posted on Wednesday, October 2, 2002The National Association of State Foresters passed Resolution No. 2001-8 last year, indicating its support for a strong Forestry Title in the 2002 Farm Bill that recognizes the important contribution of non-industrial private forest (NIPF) lands. Thankfully, this year Congress passed one of the strongest Farm Bills supportive of forestry on private lands in history.

Posted on Wednesday, October 4, 2000The National Association of State Foresters, a member of the Coalition responsible for the "National Investment in Sustainable Forestry: Addressing the Stewardship of Nonfederal Forestlands through Research, Education and Extension/Outreach" report, endorses the report and offers assistance to move the recommendations through the applicable Titles of the 2002 Farm Bill.
NASF Resolution No. 1992-4: Stewardship Incentives Program Fund Use
Posted on Thursday, October 15, 1992The main objective of the Forest Stewardship Program is to develop forest management plans on new Non-Industrial Forest Land and the Cooperative Forestry Assistance Act as amended by the 1990 Farm Bill strongly encourages the use of private consulting foresters to assist in delivering the Forest Stewardship Program
NASF Resolution No. 1989-7: 1990 Farm Bill
Posted on Sunday, October 15, 1989Concerns are mounting that Conservation Reserve Program (CRP) acres planted to grass cover will be returned to crop productions when the 10 year rental payments end and studies indicate that approximately 90 percent of acres planted to trees would not be returned to crop production. NASF can play an important role in gaining support for a strong forestry component in the 1990 Farm Bill, and to broaden participation in tree planting nationally
