Wyden bill would open renewable fuel standard to federal lands
Senator Ron Wyden (D-OR) introduced legislation yesterday that would allow biomass from federal lands to qualify for renewables incentives that were included in the 2007 energy bill. Wyden’s bill would broaden the definition of what qualifies as "renewable biomass" in the 2007 energy bill, and allow the harvest of non-commercial slash and thinnings from National Forest and BLM land at sustainable levels.
