U.S. joins international project to halt deforestation
Six developing nations and five Western countries, including the United States, have formed a partnership to reduce global greenhouse gas emissions by improving forest management, the World Bank said. The Forest Investment Program, which holds its first meeting Oct. 29 in Washington, D.C., will invest some $350 million in regions of the world that are most threatened by deforestation.
