South Carolina State Forester advocates stiffer penalties to deter careless burning

South Carolina state forestry officials say their agency doesn't have the firepower it once had, so they're looking for help from the courts. The state's forester has asked magistrates and judges statewide to impose stiffer penalties for anyone found responsible for starting wildfires.
