Senate hearing looks at role of national forests in climate change
Posted on Thursday, November 19, 2009A hearing before the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Subcommittee on Public Lands and Forests this week focused on how best to manage federal forests in response to climate change. In his testimony, U.S. Forest Service Chief Tom Tidwell said the agency is trying to manage forests to combat climate change while still easing the risk of wildfires that have increased in frequency and intensity, in part because of global warming.
