NPR: complexities of forests, climate and biofuels
National Public Radio's Morning Edition aired two stories today on forests and how they relate to international and domestic global warming policies. The first described the view of some scientists writing in the current issue of Science magazine that say existing biofuel laws inadvertently encourage deforestation and could actually make climate change worse. The second feature story explored the concept of forest carbon banks, and the effects of fire and drought on these forests.
