Forest management for a green planet
An Associated Press article looks to New York state forests for examples of forest management that improve the landscape's ability to provide a numer of ecosystem services. "North America's growing forests of the past century or more have been credited by scientists with absorbing as much as half of the manmade carbon that otherwise would be in the atmosphere," according to the article. As trees mature, however, they absorb less, so regeneration is a prime focus.
