Arbor Day Foundation honors NKU as "Tree Campus"

Northern Kentucky University and the University of Michigan are the first to be awarded the designation of "Tree Campus USA" by the Arbor Day Foundation. Tree Campus USA honors colleges and the leaders of their surrounding communities for promoting healthy urban forest management and engaging the campus community in environmental stewardship. Kentucky State Forester and NASF President Leah MacSwords spoke at a press conference and tree-planting celebration Thursday to recognize NKU's forest management program and long-term commitment to keeping the campus green. Roughly 80 college campuses have applied to the Arbor Day program this year.
